Coming up May, I would like to take this opportunity exploited very important holidays in May in Poland.
Beginning of May is traditionally a period of celebrations to commemorate the most important events and symbols that have gone down in the history of Polish. It should cultivate national traditions and expose the public symbols of our country.
Have fun getting to know the traditions of my country!
1st May - Święto Pracy, Labour Day
International Labour Day is celebrated annually on May 1 to commemorate and recognize the achievements of the working class. In Poland, this day is a public event a statutory holiday.
2nd May - Dzień Flagi, Flag Day
There are two reasons historical, which established Flag Day was May 2. First, it was on this day conquering Berlin Polish soldiers of the 1st Division of the Kosciuszko hung the flag on the column of victory in the Tiergarten in Berlin. Secondly, in times of PRL, May 2, citizens have a warrant to remove the flags, so they were not posted when forbidden by the festival on May 3.
This holiday is celebrated by organizing various types of events. For example, in Świnoujscie, in 2011. Over 600 people gathered on the beach to the held white or red cards to create a Polish flag. The Feast is to raise awareness of Poles of their identity. On this day in the windows we hang flags.
3rd May - Święto Konstytucji, Feast of the Constitution
On this day we celebrate the enactment of Poland's first Constitution (first in Europe and second in the world after the United States in 1787!). The Constitution was passed by which was convened in October 1788. On 3 May we celebrate not only the Constitution Day May 3, it is also the Feast of Matki Bożej Królowej Polski. This day is very dignified celebrated in Poland.
